FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Tall and built slim; carries himself well and with confidence. Looks a bit like a hoodlum; he also has horns, fangs, red around his eyes and slits in the pupils, and claws. He has a demon mask on him at all times.

Low, sometimes growly. Expressive. Often angry. Voiced by Shintaro Asanuma. He's the first one in THIS video to speak and rap.

LEADER-LIKE

Samatoki has always possessed leader-like qualities, being assertive and a person who generally knows what he wants. He goes after it quickly and aggressively with his fellow division members in tow. Through his actions and direction, Jyuto Iruma and Riou Mason Busujima have come to respect him as their leader. He's the wakagashira of a yakuza family — the Katen fanmily — so Samatoki is well-respected as a leader-type. He shows initiative and determination, as shown when he battles Ichiro in Chuuoku. Once his friend and beloved teammate in Mad Comic Dialog and The Dirty Dawg, he goes against his friendship in order to save his little sister, Nemu, who he'd do absolutely anything for. This kind of hard decision making generally comes easily to Samatoki. He doesn't hesitate, and he's respected for this by his yakuza family as well as the other two members of Mad Trigger Crew. Some people might be surprised by his leaderlike qualities in the face of his general intimidating and don't-fuck-with-me attitude; it genuinely shocked Jyuto and Riou to see him calm after losing to Matenrou. The pair thought they'd be yelled at for not doing enough, but Samatoki was able to push the feelings of defeat aside, and let them know he was genuinely proud and impressed. This suggests that he does know when to switch it off, so to speak, but these moments are rare.

BELLIGERENT

Samatoki loves a fight. Especially when it comes to Ichiro Yamada or his little sister's pride and safety. He's even prone to bickering with his second, Jyuto, bantering hard enough that their third has to step in and play the mediator so it doesn't come to blows. While Samatoki can switch off his aggression as mentioned above, he also more often than not shoots first and asks questions later. This ties into his recklessness as well, but in the realm of belligerence, he can be single-minded and ferocious. He had to be called off and calmed down in front of Ichiro while they and the rest of their divisions were in Chuuoku for the first Division Rap Battle; Samatoki was prepared to battle him right then and there, even though they were slated to take the stage and battle it out once and for all there. He's also quick to snap at underlings in the Katen family if he feels they're being irritating or not working up to his strict and high standards.

RECKLESS

Again, as mentioned above — Samatoki can be a bit reckless when it comes to his obsessions or duties. If it hurts him, its only secondary to finding his answers or sister or some enemy to tear into. He could charge into situations rather quickly. Any harm that came to him was only pain and nothing more, just a hurdle to get over in the name of answers. Nemu had sort of gone missing back then — brainwashed by the Party of Words and made into their officer. This lent to the seeds of obsession and an even deeper recklessness — everything was for her. It's not as though he doesn't think things out, however — that's far from the case. He's able to think things out quickly, but if harm and pain and strife are the price to pay for accomplishing his goals then, well, he'll go down that route, no problem or questions asked. This is demonstrated best when he battles for Nemu's sake. After her first kidnapping at the hands of the Party of Words, he battled more fiercely than ever before, despite the fact he was stacked up against the most powerful party in Japan — with its leader, Otome Tohouten, at the helm as the Prime Minister. Even fiercer still came his words in the battle following the second kidnapping. Though everyone else is fighting in the Division Rap Battles for answers and their own comparably monumental reasons, Samatoki stands among them ready to throw himself in harm's way in order to achieve his and his teammates' goals.

CLOSED-OFF

Samatoki uses his belligerence and recklessness, as well as vulgar words and a fuck-the-world attitude, to keep people at a distance. He doesn't open up easily, or to everyone. Nemu sees the best sides of him, and the rest of Mad Trigger Crew does as well, but anyone else meets the strong, capable, and intimidating leader and wakagashira that has scared off so many through looks alone. Samatoki has a great deal of trauma, and if he keeps himself guarded through lashing out and his cocky posture, then he doesn't have to open up or explain that to anyone else. While family and camaraderie means very much to Samatoki, not many get to see this softer and more vulnerable sides of him.
